Formatting Text in Photoshop 6
by BarryHilton, Adult NetSurprise
Formatting your text in
Photoshop 6 is achieved using the 'Paragraph' menu. To display the 'Paragraph'
menu goto the 'Windows' menu at the top of the screen and select 'Show
Paragraph' from the drop down menu. The 'Paragraph' menu is displayed
below.

Firsty, you need to select your 'Text Area'... To do this select
the 'Type Tool' from the main Tool menu, then instead of clicking with you left
mouse button and typing text as usual, click with your left mouse button and
while holding it down, drag the 'Text Area' box to your desired size (If you
need you can alter this later by selecting the text box and using the 'handles'
to extend or reduce the area).
To type text into your Text Area just
click with your left mouse button within your existing Text Area and type text
as usual. Pressing 'Return' on your keyboard marks the end of a paragraph. This
effects text placement explained below.
Now we'll look at the options
for text in your 'Text Area'...
The buttons from left to right:
Aligned to the left edge of the Text
Area.
Aligned in the center of the Text Area.
Aligned to the right edge of the Text
Area.
Justify (Spacing altered between words so the
lines are aligned equally on the left and right edge) all lines of text except
the bottom line of your paragraph which is aligned to the left.
Justify all lines of text except the bottom line
of your paragraph which is aligned in the center of the Text Area.
Justify all lines of text except the bottom line
of your paragraph which is aligned to the right of the Text Area.
Finally, Justify all lines of text.
Next
we can look at the different options for formatting a paragraph and your Text
Area:
Indent in pixels or points from the left edge of
your Text Area.
Indent in pixels of points for the first line of
the paragraph.
Indent in pixels or points from the right edge of
your Text Area.
Space in pixels or points above the
paragraph.
Space in pixels or points below the
paragraph. And lastly tick the Hyphenate box to enable hyphenation of words
at the end of a line or untick to disable.
You can select different
options for each line or paragraph of text in your Text Area by highlighting
the paragraph (Click and drag so all the paragraph text is selected) and
selecting any of the options above.
Get contol over your text formatting
and have fun :)
